I’m enjoying the World Service podcast The Bomb, particularly that it recognises the pivotal role of Leo Szilard in creating the atomic bomb. It’s a good series but I feel it misses out on the history of how the First World War shaped the men (and they were men) who created the bomb and made death on an industrial scale acceptable. That aspect is better covered by the book The Making of the Atomic Bomb by Richard Rhodes.
