I have finished book one in my Iain M Banks ‘Culture’ audio book series and reading them in the order they were published so Consider Phlebas is first. It was enjoyable, but not as much as when I first read it as my tastes have moved on from the last century. It’s an early book though, it’s too soon to say whether it confirms my theory he writes action and battles better than he does people.
