My Joy page
Inspired by James’ Coffee Blog and a recent funeral service, here (in no particular order) is a list of small things that bring me joy. Generally these are experiences rather than things.
- I like walking barefoot, especially on grass or sand.
- I enjoy the earnest way small children talk and the silly little things they notice.
- I like the first mouthful of coffee best
- I like making people smile or laugh
- I like the sound of a well-played snooker pot hitting the back of the pocket.
- I love the tension at the end of a great book. Wanting to finish the story but never wanting it to end.
- My Kaikado tea and coffee caddies.
- Seeing two magpies
- Watching bats flying.
- The smell of a candle that’s just been blown out.
- Empty beaches.
- My HP-15C calculator.
- Hearing birds sing. I’m amazed at how much noise these tiny animals can make.
- I like writing with a wet fountain pen; watching the line of shiny wet ink pool, then slowly dry.
- Freesias.
- Perfectly runny eggs.
